| Alexander Wang's models via June |
In the small town I come from you often hear young school girls going through magazines saying 'how is she a model? She's not even pretty! I'm prettier than that!'
The thing is, you don't need to be stereotypically 'pretty' faced to be a model, but you need to be able to take off your make up, scruff up your hair, and have the look. The bare faced, impossibly, striking freshness that all the models of the above have. Just look at Abbey and Natasha (I'm bias - they're my favourites). You can't master it. You either have it or you don't.
I'm definitely on the scary side of things when I wake up in the morning, but then I'm just hoping to write about fashion. :)

very good point, beautiful doesnt have to be 'pretty'.
ReplyDeleteloved that you pointed that out totally agree!!!

you said it very well :) when i watch antm my mums always like 'she's not that pretty!' but it's all about a 'look' and sometimes the most typically pretty ones can't handle the makeup ect. :) xo
ReplyDeleteThat's another example. My sister does that too! The one's who don't conform to being stereotypically pretty just have magic on camera, that the 'pretty' ones usually don't. I love models with a really unique feature - like a Lindsey Wixon pout! x
ReplyDeleteVery true, great post!
ReplyDeleteVery true- you have to define beauty before you can even call somebody beautiful! Models are different and that's why they succeed in the industry xx
ReplyDeleteI completely agree. It annoys me when people are like 'ooh I'm beautiful, I'm going to be a model.' I'm just like, well yeah maybe you are beautiful but you can't do different poses and faces.
ReplyDeleteAfter watching ANTM and BNTM it's really made me appreciate how hard modelling is! x
