Inspired By

You know I have more than what could be called a healthy obsession with those good old Acne 'Atacomas'. I'm also finding a large proportion of my heart is falling for the creations of Jeffrey Campbell. Although many of his shoes are 'inspired by' bigger brand styles, and are essentially more affordable replicas, it's the fact that they're affordable which makes the brand very appealing to me. Along with his 'Alexas', I also fell for the Charles Anastase 'Dungeon' boot-alike (the Lita). However, scouring through some online stores this morning, I was suprised to see that Aldo has come up with some similiar versions of shoes I've been lusting after.

There's something about the style that doesn't quite work for me, but I'd love to see them on to get an idea of how they'd look. I'd still much rather the JC ivory styles or the orginal Acne's.

I also stumbled across these, which reminded me of some beauties at Free People.

For only £85 I'm pretty tempted. What do you think? Do you go in for 'inspired' pieces or are you originals only?

Acne

Why I want to live in London: Reason 1,689,280 - First Acne store opens in Mayfair.

I would like to browse around an Acne store, and try on things dreamily, rather than just look at them dreamily online. Is it so much to ask?

I guess the good thing is about it is at least with me living in teensy weensy, Acne-less Devon for the summer, I still remain unable to get my mitts on Atacomas. I think if I actually had them in my hands, money or no money, I'd just have to buy them. Sadly, I guess I'm safe for now.

grey day

I want these shoes badly...but I need the £415 they cost, for a sunny holiday with the lover man.....

I love grey, and far more affordable than these wedges is this nail varnish from Models Own

I've never been complimented on my nail varnish before, but this colour gets a lot of good attention! I tried out the Models Own varnishes after seeing them recommended by Imogen from FoxyLocks, and they're probably the best nail varnishes I've used for the £5 price tag. If you buy 3 or 5 you save more money - they're a great consistency and long lasting on their own, and especially with a topcoat. And online, they're all arranged in groups of shades, which suits my organisational OCD :)

You can find them on Models Own It

Acne F/W09

I'm feeling like I'm stuck in a style rut, and this rut is a particularly sticky one. Mainly it's because this rut is at the bottom of the pit, known as 'being skint'. Therefore, I feel like I'm constantly rewearing, and rewearing, and rewearing my old favourites in my wardrobe. The rest should really be chucked out having definitly seen brighter days, when they hadn't been through the washing machine more times than any item of clothing could rightfully hope for.

So I've looked up Acne for their Fall/Winter 09 collection again, having just been reminded of their greatness courtesy of this weeks Grazia magazine. They haven't solved my money issues, but they've shed some light into the darkness of my style-less mind right now: lots and lots of layering (perfect for this season), simply cut dresses, multi-texturous materials all mixed together, a heavyness brought about through strong draping, and long coats, and all of course, topped off by a pair of their statement shoes.

And what better way to end a post than by these....
