White Swans

I don't need to point out the hype around at the moment for Black Swan. Instead, I thought I'd share with you one of my favourite variations of the Pas de Quatres by Matthew Bourne in true Swan Lake spirit. Unfortunately, I never got the opportunity to see this live. Does anyone know if it's still showing? It will definitely be up there with Les Miserables on my birthday present list if it is. 

What did you think of Black Swan if you've been to see it? I felt a bit like something was missing, but I'm not sure if that was just because it was built up so much. I'm a real wimp when it comes to anything remotely scary, so I found it pretty terrifying. I had to go and see it twice in a week (promised the boyfriend) and I still don't know what she sees in the bath. Oh, and two words for those who have seen it: nail file!

Did any of the style savvy sit there strangely smug when you could appreciate something clearly made by Rodarte? I did whenever some of their signature knits cropped up, not to mention that beautiful white gown Natalie Portman got to wear.

Rodarte

I keep putting little snippets of Rodarte into my style collections, and thought I do really need to blog about their collections. After the much talked about feast of a show, that they presented to our fashion-starved eyes on the runway for Spring/Summer 2010, I decided to have a look back at their Autumn/Winter 2009 collection. I don't know about you, but I've so completly immersed myself in all things sunshine and summery for next year that I've become totally out of sync with what's going on right now. So a little peek back into the past refreshed me and filled me with a satisfied happiness at the unique textures of knits on the Rodarte runway. I'm currently in desperate need of a coat to arm myself against the abusive cold of a Manchunian winter, and can't help but keep being drawn to sumptious, cosy and chunky 'coatigans'. Rodarte if anything, has inspired me more to seek one out....

I love the shaggy, multi-textured design of these long cardigans. Somehow, 'cardigan' seems far too plain and dowdy a word to use to describe the modern, mis-match inspirational design that is this garment!

The belted waist just brings it all back into place, and would look even better with a skinny belt with the end tucked over a la Burberry 2010.

So let Autumn be all about clashing layers upon layers of texture.....it's far more inspirational than the 'short n shoulders' obsession of the moment.
