Marilyn

Did anyone watch the documentary on Tuesday night about Marilyn Monroe on More 4? It's completely rekindled my obsession over her style and elegance, and I now want to make totally Marilyn-inspired, wardrobe decisions. My Nan always says she's so happy she was born in an era when stars like Marilyn (and namely Frank Sinatra, my Nan's 'boyfriend'...) were around, and I have to say I'm very jealous I wasn't about in that period. As the cliché goes, they just don't make stars like that any more. 

When she was dressed down, her clothes were so simple and effortless. Not with the same elegance as Audrey Hepburn's day wear, but with a chic, classic cool all her own. Come the night time, she oozed glamour, sophistication and sex appeal. I tried to find a shot of her wearing the heart print, black headscarf that was shown in the documentary the other night, but can't seem to find one anywhere. I'm fast becoming a convert to the headscarf cause.

It was a little while ago that COW stores across the country held student lock-ins, to give us students a dose of discount alongside a few beers and some good tunes. If you were out and about in the Manchester store then chances are you were snapped by me. Blogger Style: Rumi at Fashion Toast

I just rediscovered FashionToast. There's a few blogs in my reading list (mainly personal style ones), which I tend to ignore on a daily basis and then have a mass catch up with, usually on lazy days like this Sunday. Today has been a day for catching up with Rumi's style. The photos I've chosen weren't actually going to be for a 'Bloggers Style' post. I chose them to dedicate a post to my best mate Danielle, as I'm pretty sure Rumi's style will provide some inspiration for her. She doesn't have a blog or anything, or spend her time reading through them like I do, so I like to share bits and pieces that I think she (and other friends) will like, hence the food photos (she's a healthy food freak, with the occasional penchant for pigging out days). 

I'd forgotten how great Rumi's style is. Massive heels and cakings of heavy jewellery, make her a girl after my own heart. If you haven't checked out her blog yet you can find it here and all the photos featured are from there.
