Zara's Valentino-Alike Kitten Heels

It's taken a while for me to fully come around to the concept of a kitten heel. It's difficult enough to abandon any form of a heel to wear flat shoes (which are not comfortable despite the lies people will insist on telling you), but a kitten heel? That little nubbin of a non-heel? I've never been convinced -  until now. I was almost swayed a few years ago when Alexa Chung had to be surgically removed from her Valentino studded kitten pumps, however platforms were still standing strong too, so I towered on with my 6 inch stilettos. The kitten heel saga diminished some-what over the subsequent fashion seasons, never fully able to push its tiny form into the wardrobes of the mass market, but now I think times might finally be changing.

In Zara's latest collection for autumn 2012, a pair of nude kitten heels have emerged that bare more than a passing resemblance to the Valentino sell-outs that have come before them. They feature sequin embellishment rather than studs, which is a slightly sad indicator of their high street origins, but I still think I can find a place in my shoe cupboard to love them. I just wish I'd not been so afraid of this trend 2 years ago...

I notice that Zara have named them 'pointed medium heels'. I wonder if that's because the term 'kitten heels' is still not cool?

What do you think of kitten heels? Will you be wearing them?

Covers: Alexa Chung for ELLE UK March 2012

A smile is always brought to my face when my copy of ELLE UK arrives on my doorstep, but this month I'm exceptionally pleased because I'm in love with the cover. I've got somewhat of a marmite relationship with Alexa Chung, but I think she looks amazing on the cover of ELLE's fantastically packed out March 2012 issue. Although we will no doubt be sick of looking at pastel shades after being drip fed their sweetness since September, I'm still enjoying them, especially when they come from one of my favourite S/S collections: Louis Vuitton. Alexa's hair cut has also been playing on my mind ever since I set on eyes on the cover, so I'm now debating a trip to the salon. If only  getting her legs was equally achievable...

Aside from an interview and gorgeous editorial with Alexa, the issue also features an interview with Karl Lagerfeld, Oscar de la Renta and features my girl crush of the moment, Clemence Poesy. I haven't had a chance to sit down with a cup of tea and enjoy it yet, but then again, that's precisely what Saturday mornings are made for.

What do you think of Alexa's cover? Love the hair too?

Hey Lady

Louis Vuitton's a/w2010 line saw the return of runway legends Laetitia Casta, Bar Refaeli, Catherine McNeil and Elle Macpherson, to provide the needed clevage for the asset boosting dresses in the collection. The pieces are pretty conservative with mid-calf length skirts, and occasionally high necklines (the few times boobs weren't a feature), but they're all about falling back in love with the naturally curvaceous female form.  I'm still undecided as to how much I like it, but of course there are a few golden pieces I can't help but love. However, how does the transition from catwalk to every day life work out? Not very well. Check out Daisy Lowe all covered up (which I'm kinda liking), but see Pixie Geldof looking so out of her comfort zone in one of the dresses from the collection. It looks positively frumpy, and even the flash of clevage cannot save it from being so. Alexa works it as always, but I'm really not so sure on this look you know? What do you think?
