Gwen Stefani Covers Harper's Bazaar US September 2012

Gwen Stefani looks stunning on the September 2012 cover of Harper's Bazaar US. Wearing the much coveted pink strapless dress from Raf Simon's final collection for Jil Sander and a matching, voluminous Alexis Mabille hat, the pink-themed editorial references a scene from one of my favourite Audrey Hepburn movies, Funny Face. 

The accompanying editorial photographed by Terry Richardson is equally as brilliant as the cover, with Gwen modelling designs from The Row, Alexander McQueen and Versace. Of course, the hype around Gwen has intensified since No Doubt reformed earlier this year, yet what really intrigues me is how she seems to have not aged a day since the band took a break back in 2004. She looks truly sensational!

Gwen on finding her signature look: 

"It was like I'd unlocked the key. I remember feeling like, 'I have arrived. This is me. Finally.'" The red lip came when her grandmother gave her a crimson lipstick when she was in high school. "I remember sitting in my ghetto, beat-up Honda Prelude and putting on that lipstick in the rearview mirror and being like, 'Uh-huh, I like that. That's the shit right there.' I never stopped after that."

Wednesday Wishes 18

1. The perfect nude, chiffon maxi. I've been gradually falling for chiffon maxis for a while now, and this one is lovely and cheaper than American Apparel/Topshop. Miss Selfridge

2. Like most people, I'm pretty obsessed with everything from the Jil Sander SS11 collection. I was going to post a stunning, strapless pink dress, but this market bag caught my eye as it's actually in my price range! It seems incredibly cheap considering it's a designer bag, which makes it all the more tempting! Net A Porter

3. Along with vibrant brights, florals are also big in my books at the moment. This dress caught my eye instantly and has the bonus of having a pretty, knotted back detail too. Roll on spring! Topshop

4. These shoes speak for themselves. Block heels, creamy, nude shade, wood platform - perfect! Asos

5. Cobalt blue keeps grabbing my attention. It's been seen a lot on the catwalks for AW11, and I'm currently coveting a pair of cropped, electric blue trousers. Until I find the right pair, this ring should be added to my collection. Topshop

6. For AW11, Mulberry channelled the English woodland, with Olivia Palermo seen perched upon a toadstool. It's a tad too small to provide seating, but it will make a cute accessory for your handbag. Net A Porter

My boyfriend bought us both tickets to go and see Les Miserables today - a musical I've been dying to see for as long as I can remember. While I'm in London, a trip to the shoe boutique in Selfridges and a Lola cupcake will surely be in order.

The Big Blue Coat

I usually veer away from bold colours or complicated prints, mainly because I don't feel that confident at styling them. As the fashion mags say, I'm definitely part of the 'minimal camp'. However, this blue coat caught my attention straight away. Staying true to the success of the bright and voluminous proportions from SS11, Raf Simons has got me coveting a winter wardrobe already. Maybe 2011 will be the year I turn 'bright brave'.

I always find making a style transition between winter and spring is far harder to do than it is between summer and autumn. As Amelia and I recently tweeted, you become fooled by the warm sunshine shining through the window and put on a dress, only to step outside and find it's still subzero, and your fashion forward, springtime thinking now makes you look like a madwoman trying to brave the cold. The answer to this problem has come to me in the form of palazzo pants. They ooze the comfort of a summer maxi dress in their flowing folds of fabric, have the practicality of in fact being trousers, and are long and wide enough to almost literally provide a tent of shelter against the cold. Not to mention that they skim gracefully over our often troublesome bottom halfs, making us look taller, slimmer, and instantly more elegant. 

Considering I'm not at all a trouser person, I have really high hopes for these. There are also some really chic styles at Asos, but I think their models are too tall for the trousers. I like them best when worn just flirting with the platform of your wedges. To have them brutally slapping your ankles spoils the sleek, elegance that palazzo pants have the potential to exude. 

And I know that the Jil Sander item I've included isn't a pair of trousers, but I couldn't find a picture of the magnificently maximalist styles seen on the s/s runway anywhere. The maxi skirt gives you a vibrant glimpse into what's to come this summer.
