When Dreams Are Made of Net-A-Porter

Yesterday evening, while indulging in my day of nothingness and reading through Vogue, I got to imagining what it would be like to have Net-A-Porter as my wardrobe. Can you imagine?! Of course, for a lucky few in this world, this is pretty much their reality, but for the rest of us...what a dream! Whenever I go to Net-A-Porter, I always look through the dresses first, then the shoes, followed by coats, bags, jackets and trousers respectively, which explains why my choices are a tad dress heavy. But if I had to go right in and make an instantaneous selection, supermarket sweep style, these would definitely be my top choices.

Let Them Do The Talking

A little gander on Fashion Gone Rogue can do wonders for you when you're feeling a little blog-spiration (?) less.
I came across this stunning editorial by Catherine Servel, featuring Jacquelyn Jablonski. It's such a beautiful example of why everybody is embracing the lady-like glamour seen on catwalks like Prada, Louis Vuitton and Fendi. It's such a classic, elegant look that I can only wish I could achieve once in a while. One thing I was able to take away from the shots however, was the glove wearing. Seems not all that important, right? Wrong. I consider glove wearing to be a real statement making style technique. Now, we're not talking your average woolly black glove, whose only purpose is to stop your fingers turning blue in winter. No, we're talking elbow length leathers as seen at Lanvin or Karl Lagerfeld's trademark fingerless gloves. For me, gloves require the same kind of confidence to wear with an outfit as a hat, and I don't wear hats, but I am a great admirer of those who do and who do it well. Gloves, like hats, can complete an outfit. Hey, they can make an outfit and it's this potential that intimidates me.
I've been looking at a lot of outfits recently, which have just happened to be styled with gloves, and I love the look. The main thing that puts me off though, is that I feel if I pair some elbow-length lovelies with a dress on a night out, I'll look just a tad pretentious. I don't know. Maybe it's just my own irrational, over thinking about glove wearing. I don't know.

So I'll ask you guys: Do you wear gloves, or hats for that matter? And if not, why not?

Something to model all my 'night-out' outfits on.

This entire collection was so glamorous and classy. From the backcombed top knotted hair, to the elaborate chunks of jewellery, and to my Lanvin favourite - the leather gloves, everything looked so sophisticated and sexy. I love that powder-pink dress (above, left), it maintained the formal style of all the dresses, but the material, and draping relaxes it all, making it look so appealingly comfortable. And as my (what seems like never-ending) jumpsuit search continues, Alber Elbaz makes me think that maybe an asymmetric, softly draped piece might be just the thing I need. The search continues...

P.S - And while I dream that my bank balance could stretch drastically, so that I could buy a Lanvin dress, in the meantime (and in reality), this French Connection will do just fine!
