Designers Recreate Disney Princess Gowns For Harrods

A small dream of mine was made a reality today when Vogue released an array of sketches by some of the fashion industry's leading designers. Nothing special about that, apart from the designs were recreations of Disney's most loved princesses. As someone who longed to be Belle as a child (she's the best one and I still do), it's a happy day to see the iconic dresses of my childhood dreams be brought to life as an adult, by the people I now admire. The dresses have been designed for the iconic Christmas window display of Harrods' and will include designs by some of my favourites including Elie Saab, Valentino and Marchesa. Saab's looks like it will be exquisite!

For real Disney fans there is also a pop-up Princess boutique now open on the fourth floor of the store and the dresses will be revealed on the 1st November.

Are you excited to see these designs? Which is your favourite?

Cannes Film Festival 2010 - Kate Beckinsale

Kate Beckinsale looked stunning last night, in a soft lilac-blue gown by Marchesa, but it's her Dior outfit she wore later on that stole the show for me. The colours, the soft draping at the top - so gorgeous and perfectly teamed with some nude Brian Atwood heels.

Well Dressed

Kate Hudson isn't a celebrity whose ever inspired much of an opinion on me. I've only seen How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, and her editorial in Elle a couple months ago and that is the extent of my Hudson knowledge. But she has caught my attention recently. Has anyone else noticed how great she's been looking? I love the pure, bright white she's been wearing on the latest red carpets. They look stunning and really set her apart from the other celebs - there's something about the top of that Marchesa dress that's just perfection. She's been looking a lot more stylish than I guess I expected her to be - the structure of the Marchesa, and that surprising low back on the Emilio Pucci.

P.S - I feel that similiar credit should be given to Drew Barrymore, who has also looked pretty phenomenal on the red carpet recently. I wasn't sure at first on her Golden Globes dress, but it's grown on me. The one she wore to the Screen Actors Guild, however, was an instant hit. I love the sixties hair and makeup.

What do you think of their red carpet style? Who do you think has been looking especially good recently?

I love lots of texture at the moment: rich embellishment, a plush of feathers and an overlay of lace add intricate and touchable details to any outfit.

Softly, softly

OK, so it won't be one of the ones to mould 'the look' for Spring/Summer. It's not edgy and not really bringing something very new and fresh to the catwalk scene....but for timeless, classic, sumptuously elegant designs, there really is no where else. I did blog before, that I was looking forward to the Marchesa presentation. Simply for the girlish, red carpet glamour I can't help but love. It gave a nice break from looking at all the other collections...my little indulgence.

6 days....

With just 6 days to go to London Fashion week, I have to say I'm more than a little excited. With the eyes seemingly set to be focussed on the 4 main British names; Giles Deacon, Erdem, Christopher Kane and Richard Nicoll, I've put together a few of the names I'm looking forward to seeing. I have to say....the 'short n shoulders', 'lady-luxe' and 'Balmania' catch phrases for Autumn/Winter, are already getting a little wearsome. Here are the designers I think will offer some well needed refreshment :)
