Christmas Day Outfit

Dress - Topshop, Nails - Models Own

Happy Christmas everyone! December's been a pretty hectic month, which is why my blogging's been a bit slow lately. I've got lots of festive themed posts to come, but thought I'd start off with my Christmas day outfit. Nothing too exciting really, but this dress is my wardrobe favourite at the moment - another staple black dress to add to my ever-increasing collection!

I always veer away from using my glitter nail polishes because they're so difficult to get off, but nothing really says 'Christmas' in my nail polish collection like this very sparkly red from Models Own. I was slightly inundated with nail polishes over Christmas and I think my collection is now on something like 60.... Is that too many?

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas. It was definitely one of the best I've had in a long time.

Sunday

Sandals - Pedro Garcia
Sunglasses - Linda Farrow Luxe
Bikini - Chloe
Suncream - Nivea
Cocktail - Essential.

I wish I could wear this today in the sunshine. How fabulous is the bikini? I love its pin-up style.

I bought some spray-on fake tan yesterday. It says 'no streaks', but I'm streaked like a zebra (if zebras were brown and white), so I could do with catching up on the real deal.

Feeling sleepy today after my noisy neighbours had a party outside my front door till 5am. I asked them to be quiet, and one of them proceeded to say 'someone's going to get raped in the morning' through my door! The joys of living with those kind of brainless students, eh?

I tried out one of Gem's Tuesday Tips the other day on my nails. It was to create perfect polka dots by using the end of a kirby gripped dipped in your nail varnish of choice. It was trickier than it looked, because either a tiny dot came off or too much did, hence some of the dots are a bit dodgy. I found you need a fair bit of polish on the end so that it gloops down into a perfect circle. With a bit of practice, I think this will be a good technique to make chubby dots, but I find the Models Own nail art pen to be a lot easier. I actually went over most of the dots with it to even them out.

What are you up to on this sunny Sunday?

Primarni Nails

When I was visiting my friend Kim on the weekend, a flash of molten gold caught my eyes, which shone from her fingertips. I instantly thought she'd had a Minx-over, because they had that famous, metallic glisten which comes hand-in-hand with Minx nail designs. The surprisingly good news? These were actually nail varnish applications from....Primark! For £3 a pack, you get 18 foil, nail varnish applications, which apply to your nails with the aid of hairdryer heat. The stupid thing is that you only get 18 nail applications, which means you don't have enough to do two full applications unless you're missing a couple of digits. We came to the conclusion that this must be a cunning ploy to make you buy more packs in order to repeatedly coat your claws. For a mere £3 though, I think they're definitely worth it. Some of the designs are a bit dodgy - pink and black, skull and crossbones anyone who's not an emo teen? However, if you choose one of the nicer designs, the result really is that of a professional manicure.

This was my friend's first attempt at doing this, so she said next time she'd try and make the edges a little neater. Aside from that, I think they're pretty good.

What do you think? Have you used these before, and if not, will you be buying them?

wednesday wishes (on a weekend) 8

Shorts, Ring: Miss Selfridge, Jumper: Topshop, Dog: Erdem, Bag: Proenza Schouler both at Net A Porter

So Wednesday Wishes is taking place on a weekend this week, because I'm completely overloaded with uni work. I've kind of forced myself to live like a hermit this week though, and now I can almost see over my mountain of books I thought I'd give a bit of time to the blog.

If you're on Twitter make sure you're following Erdem. Somehow I didn't know Erdem even had Twitter until Most Curious tweeted him. That day he had posted a photo of the fabric Daschund 'ice skating'. As a Bulldog and Daschund lover, I wish I had this guy sat on my desk right now. Sadly, at £150 he's not going to be sat there any time soon. Another thing on the wish list which won't be mine in the near future, is this gorgeous PS1 satchel in the most delicious raspberry colour. It is my absolute favourite bag of the season.

Some things a little more achievable on my wishlist come from Miss Selfridge and good old Topshop. I spied these suede shorts over at Cocos Tea Party the other day. I fully expected them to be a designer label, but to my happy surprise they're £34! I hope my Dad is reading this because he's wondering what to buy me for Christmas, and these would be ideal. The ring is £12.50, another bargain, and it speaks for itself really.

As any long term Miss Dolly readers will know, I've been obsessing over Alpine themed knitwear ever since the D&G show for this season. I've still not got round to buying any yet for reasons unknown, but I'd pair this jumper with my leather shorts and thick knee socks. Does anybody else get looked at like they're crazy if they wear knee high socks out at the moment? I was wearing a coat, a scarf, a cardigan, a thick dress, gloves and ankle boots, but because I had an inch of thigh showing from my super thick knit thigh high socks, people were looking at me as though I was running naked through the cold!

Hope you're all enjoying the weekend. Who are you rooting for to win the X Factor tonight? Rebecca all the way.

leopard spots

My hair is getting long!

After being recently inspired by Miss Fatale's immaculate nails, I decided to give leopard spots a go. Here I've used Models Own Nude Beige, 17 Matte Top Coat and a Collection 2000 black liquid eyeliner. Not bad for a first attempt! I kind of just splodged little squiggles around everywhere, which was a bit more of a challenge when I had to use my left hand!

Recently I've been noticing just how long my hair is getting, and also how badly it's in need of a trim. I haven't had it cut since May!! It's constantly knotty and just plain awful, so a think a cut in time for Christmas is shortly in order.

Hope you've all had a good day. I've just spent what seemed like a lifetime writing cards, licking envelopes and sticking on stamps. Tedious...
